So I'm happy to say that I am about 98% done with Misters room. I still have a few things. I need to bind the chevron quilt I made, put the knobs on the dresser, hang up two more pictures (motorcycle pictures Steve picked out), and possibly get an airplane or something to hang in the corner??? Not sure yet....just something I was thinking could be fun.
Here is what we have so far:
The chalk board wall has been so much FUN. I think Katy and I have had the most fun drawing on this thing. You should see the things she comes up with to put on here. Of course this is the infamous wall behind the
Baby B series. Everyone always asks me where I take them...here you have it. I did two coats of paint. I heard 3 is the magic number, but 2 has been fine so far.
I am really digging the retro theme so I wanted a Jenny Lind crib. Mine, of course, is a knock off I got off KSL for 20$. Steve said I was crazy to get a new one since we have such a nice one of Katy's, but he can't complain too much because it was 20$. Also....since we are not made of money... I have been collecting things over the last 9 months. We couldn't decide on a color to paint it so I just picked red and love how it turned out, even though painting things red is a pain in the tooshy!
The
chevron quilt was harder than I thought to make. I guess I am a "lazy quilter" because you needed to be super precise on that one. The gal at the quilt shop said I was not lazy, but maybe a casual quilter. I liked her take on it more. Because I decided to go smaller on the quilt I had extra material for the back. I just picked up a piece of material I liked and quilted it together with the back and bound it. Like I said I still need to bind the chevron quilt....I HATE binding quilts!
I got this beaut of a chair back in the day when I worked at Wells Fargo. Steve always commented on how he loved it. When they remodeled our branch they were getting rid of the chairs. I had a co worker help me get one of them back to our place and gave it to Steve for Christmas that year. He thought it was so great and funny because I had gotten it for free! He gladly donated this to the room.
The only problem....it was not a good color. Almost a maroon color. We always talked about covering it, but I just never got around to it. My neighbor convinced me to make a slip cover because I would not regret being able to wash it when needed. I am surprised on how "great" it turned out because I winged this one and had NO IDEA what I was doing. Katy and I spent the weekend doing this when Steve was out of town a few weeks ago. I went with a charcoal corduroy. I LOVE corduroy. I feel like George on Seinfeld when he says he would drape himself in velvet if it was socially acceptable. I would do the same with corduroy!
I made all the pillows. Steve is not a fan of my rainbow pillow and says it's kind of girly, but he does like my 79 pillow. It was made out of my dad's old high school football jersey. I love it too.
The big striped pillow was a quilt sham I found at the Down East Clearance center for 1$. I got a pillow insert at Ikea for 3$. The deer pillow made me laugh so hard when I was looking for "manly" stuff online. I came across an etsy shop with them. I decided I could probably do that. It was pretty easy to just print off a silhouette and go from there.
The crib sheets were made. I found this killer tutorial
here, and am so happy I made them. I found this material for 3$ a yard so I though that was a good deal. I just couldn't find anything that I liked. I was nice to be able to customize them, and they were surprisingly easy.
Again with the retro theme I am digging this dresser we found at the DI for 30$. Steve decided blue would be a good color. I agree. Just needs the knobs.
I deconstructed an old changing pad cover and made a new one. Kind of clashy? But I like how this room really doesn't have a rhyme or reason to it....that way anything goes!
I'm not sure what to put up not he shelves in the corner. Well see how those change over time. So far we just have some random stuff up there.
The American flag says it all....we are patriotic around here. I want this baby to know how blessed we are to live in a free country, and how we are so grateful for those who put their lives on the line to make that happen for us. I love how it looks on the wall.
I got some Ikea picture ledges and am using them as book shelves. Katy LOVES to read. I'm not sure how this kid will be, but I'd like him to have easy access to them. I have found Katy in here reading books on the chair multiple times....so cute!
I don't really have any pictures on Katy's walls (something I'm sure will be a next project for me). But I thought it would be fun here. Katy painted a beautiful picture....as you can see....I made the "you make my heart so happy" print, the Norman Rockwell pictures were actually hanging up in Steve's room as a kid (different frames) and were a calendar that Joanne had framed. The dog one is actually from September 1981 when Steve was born. It says they were supposed to go see a movie on the 18th, when Steve was born! Ha, they missed that one. Oh and we have one of Steve's police patches too!
The upper right picture is that of my Grandpa Christopherson....or William. My great Aunt Adele is the most amazing artist ever. If you can even believe it this is a watercolor. My dad had this print she did copied for us years ago. When my grandpa was alive he used to always joke that she should have made his fish bigger in her painting! He had such a funny sense of humor.
I wish this picture did it justice, it's amazing. My favorite part is the smile on his face. That is what I think of when I think of grandpa.
The
deer head was made by Katy and I. Again, Steve was not sure about this one (and still probably isn't). We had fun making it! Katy said we killed Rudolph to make it, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make for the sake of interior design!
Overall I am just really happy how this all turned out. This nursery has no rhyme or reason, so we'll see how it evolves over the years. Katy loves it, Chuck loves to sleep under the bed, what more can you ask for?

I LOVE this picture. Steve is an awesome dad. That sounds so lame...because I really can't even think of a word to describe what kind of dad he really is. Totally off the charts in that category. I know having this next kido will completely turn our world upside down (in the most wonderful way), but with a dad like Steve I think the transition will be much more smooth!

I've wanted to start project 365 for, like, ever...and even though it started in March I am so glad that I have taken the opportunity to put Katy behind the lens. I was getting caught up in my iPhone pictures that my camera was collecting dust in the corner (if I wasn't taking pictures of other people). 
Lola is so dark she almost just looked like a black blob in most of the pictures. 
If that picture on the left doesn't look exactly like Steve...I don't know what does! Ha, it makes me laugh that she can look so much like him one minute and so much like me the next. It will be interesting to see if mister is such a good mix of the two of us.
