Well, Miss Katy RaNae Beardshall is here, she's a whopping 6 pounds 8 ounces and 21 inches long. She has a lot of dark brown curly hair and looks like her mother. (Thank goodness not like her father.) She's beautiful!
We did have a bit of a scare and Katy had to fight for her first breaths! Amy did great and at first labor was just fine. As we got going Katy's heart rate kept dropping and the doctors got worried and were about to take Amy to the operating room and give her a emergency C section. However, Katy wouldn't have that and got herself stuck in the birth canal forcing the doctors to deliver her right then and there. Thats when Katy met a medical instrument that I don't ever want to see again, the forceps! The doctor had to pull Katy out by her head and as she did they found that the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. Quick hands by several doctors got the cord out from around her neck but by this point Katy wasn't breathing and she was immediately taken by the pediatrician staff. The first apgar score was a 1 and the doctors had to preform CPR. Just minutes later they got Katy breathing and by the 5 minute score Katy was a 9 out of 10. Pretty amazing. So besides a cone shaped head and some bruises Katy is doing great and she is scheduled to go home with Mom and Dad tomorrow or weds. Thanks everyone for their support.

Congrats! That is so exciting! That sounds a little like my delivery, except I HAD to have the c-section. Lucky you! Can't wait to see pictures!

I am really trying not to cry right now! Maybe Miss Katy and Daxi boy were friends in the previous life... they have to come into this world wanting a lot of attention. What a relief that things turned out alright!! Seems like she will fit right in with Team Beardshall... strong and sassy! WE WANT PICTURES OF THIS NEW BEAUTY!!!
congrats!! sorry it was kinda scary, that SAME thing happened to my little sister when she was born. i cant imagine how terrified i would be. i am glad everything is ok. cant wait to see pictures.

Yahoo Ames...she is beautiful! Wow that was a little scary...but I am soooooo glad everything turned out great! Now that you are prob home...sleep when she sleeps, that is the best advice for a new mom! Oh and your hubby is cracking me up! I love the "i'm not gay" comment. He sounds like a great guy!
