That ain't dancing Sally!

For those of you who don't know, Katy is a TV zombie when given the chance. That kid could watch "shows" all day long if you let her. She also really likes to dance. Steve thought it would be a good idea to download a few songs from Tangled for her. Well, as you can imagine, these were a HUGE hit. The only problem is, I can only listen to those so many times. So we downloaded some more.

Katy Playlist:
I See the Light Mandy Moore & Zachary Levi Tangled Soundtrack
I Thought I Lost You Miley Cyrus & John Travolta Bolt Soundtrack
I've Got a Dream Mandy Moore Tangled Soundtrack
When Will My Life Begin Mandy Moore Tangled Soundtrack
Life is a Highway Rascal Flatts Cars Soundtrack
Kung Fu Fighting Cee-Lo & Jack Black Kung Fu Panda
You've Got a Friend in Me Randy Newman & Lyle Lovett Toy Story Soundtrack

This is all we have for now (and I'm starting to think we even need to add to this). But this last week all she wants to do is dance! Push play and watch the action begin. Today she didn't even get out any of her toys to play with or request to watch a show, this girl was too busy dancing as you can see....

Chuck thought Katy was crazy until he saw me dancing....

"Mom you dance with me?" How could I say no? So I whipped out my old dance moves from back when and I swear I turned into Elaine herself! See for yourself....

Woooo...I love it. I seriously look like this when I dance. Please pay no attention to us if you are ever walking by and see me looking like this! (Dang I was having a hard time with the animation in PS...I had it all made but was having a hard time saving it. If I can figure it out I'll post it because her dancing in motion is AWESOME!)

I really think that everything in life can be related back to a Seinfeld episode. Here is a clip of her in action. I love that she is dancing to Earth Wind and Fire's Shining Star. Oh and if Kramer and George were here I think they'd say the same thing:
“No, No. That ain’t dancing, Sally…you stink” — Kramer
“It was more like a full bodied dry heave set to music” — George
Any way you look at it I can't stop myself sometimes! So well keep on doing it....more so when I get some more songs downloaded!

St. Valentines Day Massacre

Probably a morbid way to title my post, but I think it's kind of fitting in a way seeing this is what we did for Valentines. Our friends Jena and McKay asked us to go on a group date. They were shooting for the 19th which is when I had my machine quilting class (more later). They said they were still going to go but asked if we'd just like to go on a double date instead on the 12th. I figured it was a great excuse to get together with some friends and also take Steve shooting, which he loved. Actually Steve had just recently purchased his new gun. His Kimber 1911....um I don't really know a lot about guns but I have been told that this gun is kind of a big deal!!! Ha. He said it was a perfect excuse to get out and shoot it, and it was!

Wow, I am lookin' kind of pasty. Common summer, show me the sun!

If you can imagine when we got there Jena decided that it would be a really great idea to injure herself! Dang, those knuckle cuts are no good. They never heal because they are always opening up, ya know? We went to Lee Kay to shoot. The "range masters" (the people in charge out there to keep it safe) were kind of jerky but were actually really nice when I asked for a band-aid.

I personally think the blood fits right in out here. What do you think?

We were packing up to go and I was getting ready. Steve shouted up the stairs "where's the ammo?" because I had accidentally taken it out of the back of the Jeep when I was bringing in groceries the night before. I told him it was on the table and went about my business getting ready. I didn't think twice about it until we got all set up and realized that we had left the ammo on the table! Ha, we had to give Steve a hard time...but he went to Walmart down the street and got some more. It all worked out. One of the range masters asked why I wasn't shooting while he was gone and I explained that my husband had forgotten our ammo...he asked if he was a cop. I thought that was kind of a weird question until he explained that it happens all the time. I guess when Steve goes out there as a cop...there are not any rules and they get ammo. Funny!

We seriously had a blast. We went to lunch afterwards....I think at La Puente??? Whatever, it was yummy for sure! I'm glad that I got some more practice as well. I feel more and more comfortable with the "kick back" the more I shoot. I actually like revolvers best because I can see all the parts! And I figure I need to know how to use these things seeing we have them all over the house, locked of course! Oh and Steve informed me today that when he went to do a practice qualifier (which he has to do before he can carry his gun on duty...qualify), he shot an almost perfect score! I like to think it was thanks to Jena and I's awesome date planning! Thanks agin! Cant wait to go and shoot my white elephant present with you soon!

A day in the life!

A day in the life of Katy might just be another day until you take a picture on Steve's iPhone. Now we can remember all the super fun and fabulous things we do around here! Because we know how to have a good time...

Exhibit A) Katy thinks it's so funny to sit in our ottomans. And yes those are Mickey Mouse jammys, hey would it kill someone to make some girl Mickey Mouse PJs? Don't worry we have Minnie ones too, but common! Oh and I would also like to document her beautiful bed head hair!

Exhibit B) This picture is my FAVORITE! About 30 seconds later her head literally hit the table when she feel asleep....HA!

Exhibit C) I am not sure about the rest of you but Steve thinks it's so great to go and walk around the sporting goods store. Hey it's no Ikea, but we usually have a pretty good time. Katy is especially good at lifting weights!

Exhibit D) We always have a good time cooking together. Actually Katy is always willing to help with pretty much anything that you are doing at the moment. She also loves to vacuum and do laundry....if only I didn't have to help her.

Exhibit E) More sporting goods store fun. I think the earmuffs are a good look for Katy.

Exhibit F) I am not even sure what we were doing this day but she is obviously exhausted from whatever it was! I have been keeping her sunglasses in the car lately, she can't go anywhere without them. Oh and I just love the purse just dangling off her little lifeless arm!

Exhibit G) We even have some sharing action going on over here with the sunglasses! I think it's a good look for footbook guy too!

Exhibit H) I can assure you that we are not practicing for a career as a Vegas showgirl! Steve had to run outside for a minute and came back in and found Katy completely like this all on her own! Too funny right!

Happy Valentimes!

Happy Valentimes everyone! That is what Katy has been going around all day saying! Pretty cute huh, I think so. This girl knows how to make me smile. Here's on of our quick pics we took for Valentines day. She insisted on wearing some lip gloss, so don't worry....she's not drooling!

I just want to give a shout out to my family! Not only do I have the BEST husband in the world to celebrate with but I have my little cuttie! What more could a gal ask for?
We celebrated as a family on Friday and went up and spent the day in Park City. I think Katy's favorite part was when we hitched a ride on the free trolly on main street! I know, we sure know how to spoil our children :)

She was getting a bit antsy waiting for it....

But was super happy it was worth the wait! Steve and I went on a SUPER fun date on Saturday to celebrate....more on that later! Just want to tell my family Happy Valentimes!

And here is a sneak peek of my super cute buddy Sam from our photo shoot last Friday. Melt your heart? I think so!!!!

See ya soon!

Calling all superheros!

Ok, how cute is this?

I was more than happy to snap some pics of my friend Melynda's son Linc for his birthday invite. I have to be honest though...I wish I came up with this concept, because it is so dang cute! I think he makes a GREAT Clark Kent...that's superman's name right? I am so in girl mode right now!

Oh and I also was relieved to know that Katy is not the only kido in the world that doesn't like her pictures to be taken! He was NOT happy I was there, but in all actuality did a great job once I whipped out the camera. Which was a relief because I am pretty sure my trick of "let's take a pretty princess picture" and then deciding which princess to pretend to be wouldn't have worked!

Thanks again for the great time!

Love to Hate!

So I am such a fan of free things. Also I am a fan of anything to help inspire me in regards to photography. My sister told me about this great free class. The only catch is that it's for the month of Feb....it's already going. So what are you waiting for go get signed up, there's still time left!

You KNOW your loved one does something that drives you NUTS (but you LOVE to complain about it and the day just wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t have to complain about it). Capture it…if it is a non-physical thing, then just try to take a photo of something that embodies the idea.

So Katy LOVES to climb on everything including her dresser....and I HATE it (mostly because I'm trying to forgo another broken leg!!!!)

I love the fact that she pulls out her drawers and used them as steps! This is how I caught her first thing this morning.....climbing away!

This one is just for fun! Here is a tip.....for sharper images shoot at your lens' sharpest aperture. For most lenses thats about two full stops smaller than wide open. I think it worked pretty well in this shot. This is not always true, but when you are in a situation you can....do it!

Lastly I will leave you with this super cute owl taggy! I made it for my good friend Rachel's shower that I went to today. We ate food, we talked about kids, we had a good time! I hope baby likes it. I cant wait to meet her!

Cute as a button!

Here is a sneak peek of what I was up to this afternoon.....

Taking pics of this cutie pie! Can't wait to see how the rest turn out!

me, myself and I

I was totally inspired by one of my fav photogs Brook Ashley to go ahead and take a self portrait of myself. Hey I had time....Steve was at work and Katy was taking a nap. So I whipped out the old backdrop in my kitchen and went to town. Actually I let my self timer go to town. I seriously need to get a remote for my camera. Hummm....my birthday is coming up. Ideas!

Anywho, I felt totally WEIRD taking pics of myself. Especially since no one else was there to help me. I wasn't sure if I should do the fake laugh, or have the fake smile? That is pretty much what my smile turns into unless Steve or Katy are there making me laugh.

Let me just tell you that I took a ton....most were blurry since I was using my self timer. I was trying to figure out how to focus in Manuel and had to tape a piece of fabric on the backdrop to focus it. Well I took a TON and this is what I came up with.....

Kind of fun? This is actually one of the blurry ones but I liked it the best. I think it gives it a fun feel, what do you think? You should totally take a self portrait of yourself!

Crafty in the house!

So I have been dying to make this heart wreath since I saw the tutorial. So I decided that I would email some of my buddies and get together for a crafting day. My friend Sheena soon found out that you CANNOT find foam heart shaped wreaths anywhere. We searched for weeks and weeks and came up with nothing. So we had to forgo the craft day.

I wasn't about to give up though and keep searching. I seriously would have bought about 100 of these things for people I know that want to make them but I was only able to find 2 and I promised Sheena if I found one I'd buy it for her. So that is what I did and we made wreaths at her house last week. It was so SUPER easy, just a bit time consuming....but totally worth it! I love valentines day and we are set here with it hanging on our door! Steve even thought it was pretty cool (but not that cool, right? Ha)

Ha, my front door looks like we painted it "poop" color! For some reason I was having a hard time getting the colors to come out right in this pic!

Practice makes perfect!

Dang I totally need a remote for this puppy....maybe then my self timer shots would be in focus seeing that Katy will never hold still!

We decided that it was time to take some great funny face pictures. Here are some of our first attempts on camera! (don't mind my messy living room people, we were too busy playing to clean up before our shots!)

woops....a bit blurry!

Ahhh...Katy where did you go?

Perfect.....I'll take it!

Oh and we had to try one more time today when we were taking our Vday pics in the kitchen!

"Would you guys please hurry up, I'm breaking like 30 major laws here"

I'm sure that we broke at least 30 major laws while on our annual GIRLS ONLY weekend to St. George. This year did not disappoint for sure!

Last year we left on Friday and I actually came home on Saturday. Also I got to bring Katy last year because Steve had to work. This year was SO hard to leave because I knew that I would be gone much longer and I wouldn't get to see them all weekend. We left on Thursday afternoon and didn't get back until Sunday. Steve and Katy had a fun time while I was gone too....because she got to see Tangled again. Steve tried to convince her that she needed to go see something else since we had already taken her to that one. NOPE she was set on Tangled. Oh and something that saved me was face time! I brought down the laptop and had some pretty great conversations with Katy and Steve. So that helped!

I knew that it was going to be a weekend of fun and relaxation....but mostly it was just a weekend of FUN! So I was pretty beat by the time we got home. If you can imagine it we actually had 19!!!!! girls this year. Jamie was so awesome and hooked us up with a family condo for cheap.

This is not even everyone! As you can see we know how to have a good time. Even though there were no kids with us...I guess you could say that we had 4 kids there since we had 4 pregos!!!!

I didn't really go down expecting anything as far as running goes....since my knee is just back on track. But I decided to go ahead and run the 5 K. Actually I opted to walk it with Sandi because she was the farthest along. Our friend Shannon came down so her husband could run. She had her two kids with her so she walked with Sandi and I decided to run with Nickie and Randi....we ended up walking a bit too. But I had a great time. It was nice to get out in the nice weather since it was 60 in the days! Jen just keep on running and met us at the end. This is our beautiful morning after run shot!!!

Pretty much everyone else (aside from the 5 that ran the half) went out to breakfast at the Bear Claw? I think that is what it was called. You can imagine that we were pretty hungry by lunch time since we didn't have a big breakfast so us "runners" went out to lunch. Afterwards Jamie, Emily and Mandy called us to come to Judds. A super cute drug store that has awesome old timey candy. We had to hit it up and we ended up staying there for like 3 HOURS!!! It was SO nice basking in the sun and chatting it up. We decided to go around and tell everyone how we met our husbands. It was hilarious! Good times for sure!

Here is a shot with me in it. Highly recommended for a good time to bask in the sun! So other than that we pretty much ATE the whole time! We went to the Parrot Head, Brick Oven, the Egg and I, Applebees, and Samurai 21 (kind of like Temanyaki)! We ATE a lot!!!! Luckily I was always able to find food buddy to split something with, otherwise I might have made myself sick!

Our last night we had the most hilarious night. We played TRUTH or DANCE catch phrase. If it landed on you you had to do a truth or dance! We even enjoyed a good face mask! As shown here by my lovely model Randi the mime!!!!

On Sunday we went to church at the most adorable ward. I am pretty sure that everyone there was at least 70! The new Relief Society was speaking and they kept talking about how they would try to have a good talk so none of the men would fall asleep! The back row was lined with walkers and as we were heading out they all made sure to let us know how great it was to see us there. So cute!

It was a great time. Thanks again Jamie for getting your condo for us! Until next year! Check out last years action here. Also I just want to give a shout out to Sheena for being the BEST bedroom buddy I could have asked for. She didn't hog all the covers and she didn't snore! I'll be your bedroom buddy anytime!
