Merry Christmas

Christmas was a LOT of fun this year. Katy was way into everything....except SANTA! When I woke her up that morning I told her that Santa had come and left lots of presents, she wouldn't get out of bed. I finally had to tell her that Santa didn't come to convince her to come downstairs. Funny that I had to wake her up, wow she gets that from Steve for sure....I was always up at the crack of dawn!

Santa did not disappoint this year. She got books (above) thank you TJ max!

And her piggy bank. After Thanksgiving we thought it would be fun to ask her what she wanted for Christmas. She came back with "piggy bank"! What??? Not sure where that came from but it has been a great addition for sure. Lately she wants to stay in her PJs when it's time to get dressed, but when you tell her that you will give her a penny to feed "mamma pig" as she calls her, those PJs go flying! It's great!

Thought these princess dolls would be a hit, another black friday find, and they are but not as much as I had hoped. Maybe she'll get into them a bit more as the year progresses.

She had fun opening her stocking....

Her favorite gift was probably her last gift of play food. If anything she does cook for her dolls quite a bit. She is always making "soup".

Steve did a great job on my Christmas Eve jammies......Christmas Story! My favorite!!!! These were in the mens section and they are knit. I don't think knit is a good choice when it comes to men so I am going to support them!

I am lame and didn't take any pics at the Beardshalls but we headed over there in the morning to open more gifts...Joanne picked out some great shoes for Katy! Then we headed to moms house for Turkey Dinner. Brit and Brynn got her this cute outfit and mom got the girls matching fairy costumes! She even got some more shoes over there!

Britney brought Just Dance for them for Christmas and decided to bring it up to try it out. What a funny game. TJ did a great job!

Katy and Brynn had fun "dancing" too! After this if you can believe it we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Beardshalls for some more goodies and fun! It was a LONG day but SO much fun!

I am SO grateful for my knowledge of the Savior and for the sacrifices he made for us, and although it's really fun to get caught up in the glitz and glam of the season I am grateful that we can celebrate his birth! Merry Christmas!

Le Decor

I tried to keep the Christmas decorations simple this year. I kind of started from scratch in a way. We will need to add to them of course, but for now it was nice to have a easy clean up and Katy seemed to enjoy them. We got a new Christmas tree skirt from the Down East clearance center. It's beautiful and it matches our Pottery Barn stockings and it was 10$!!!! (sorry you can't see it so great in this pic)

We've always done the really big outdoor lights on the tree, with my fake popcorn string....this year I actually added some of my ornaments from growing up. Katy sure did enjoy that. Funny thing is that I didn't have many hooks so there is not a lot up there! We'll have to get some of those for next year.

We also, Katy and I, made some more tissue balls. Super easy and cheap and they are hanging in the basement storage now for next year. I really wanted to make a fabric pendant but I didn't make time, plus I thought I could snag some holiday fabric after Christmas for a good deal.

We hung our cards on the door and our stockings on the wall! Katy loved our stockings, we even got one for Chuck! Another Down East clearance center find. Pottery Barn for only 3$ each...I bet they are even on sale now too. I had to unpick the names (which was a total pain), and will have to do something to add ours...but for the money it's worth the effort!

The reindeer is extra....for someone someday, Santa is Steve's, the dog of course is Chucks, I actually got the ballerina (or sugar plum fairy as I like to call her) for Katy...but she insists that she is mine and has claimed the snow man for her own! These are seriously the cutest, funnest stockings ever....and are normally 15-20$ in the store. I am telling you, go get some! Lots of varieties to choose from.

We'll have to see what we end up adding to the mix next year!

Bah Humbug!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Here is the 2010 card-orama for ya. Thanks again Brit for taking our pictures. I LOVE Katy to death but she was being a poo for sure, glad you still were able to capture the essence of Team Beardshall!

Oh and we tried to recreate the ol' card picture from last year but Katy couldn't wear the Santa hat this year, the head got too big, and Chuck was eating it so this is the best we got with the self timer!

It's been a great year!

Who am I kidding?

I have these grand ideas in my head for photo shoots for Katy. She will be happy to take her "princess pictures" as I like to call them. She will smile on command, and all in the land will be happy. This is my mind here, we can wish!

In all actuality, I have to deal with Katy being a big poop! I don't know what it is but this girl will go out of her way to make sure I have a very bad, horrible, no good experience!

My friend Nicole and I planned on meeting to take a few snaps of our kidos in celebration of them turning two. I had high hopes for this one for sure. We found a fun location down town and we would go out to eat afterwards. It all started when Katy was not happy that I was giving attention to Oakley....who was great, poor thing... Katy ended up making her cry she was being such a poop as noted before! Then she was not happy that Oakley was playing with her Minnie doll. I think the thing that got her going the most, though, is when I the balloons I bought flew away because I didn't tie them tight enough to the stroller! AHHHHHH, poor thing. I am laughing in my head because the last time Katy and I got together with Nicole and Oakley, Katy had a break down in the pool because of the buckets of terror!!!! So I am thinking that Nicole probably thinks that I am CRAZY when I tell her that Katy is a pretty easy going kido.

Any who, this is the best picture I got of her before I didn't even try to take another one of her. I do believe this is also right before the balloons flew away! Ha! I was so mad! Steve had to remind me that Katy was probably just trying to tell me that she needs a break from pictures. When I got back to the car, calm as could be on the outside when I was screaming on the inside, Katy managed to get out an "I love you mommy" thought her sobs. Then I felt like a jerk for feeling so disappointed when all I wanted was to have a fun time with Katy. So that is exactly what we did when we went to lunch, we had a great time!

I decided that I would try again today to take some pics of Katy. I guess she get's sick of having the camera out all the time and pretty much doesn't like to take actual pictures because we were having a hard time again. I decided that the best thing to do was to go ahead with my photo shoot anyway. I went into the kitchen and was laughing and talking to all of her "friends" saying how much fun we were having!

JJ Bear, Monkey Baby, Foot Book Guy and Minnie.....they were great models. Katy was immediately interested in what was going on that she had to come over and check it out. She thought it was hilarious that we were taking pics of her friends.

Katy insisted that we had to take some of chuck too.

He didn't mind especially for a treat! Oh and please pardon the fact that Chuck looks like an Alien! He just got his hair cut, and don't laugh too hard that we had to pull out the sweater since it's been so cold! Ha, we bought this up at the book store when we were in school for a few bucks as a joke....who knew it would come in handy one day! GO UTES!!!

She even decided that it would probably be a good idea to take a "princess picture" of herself too. She wore her new snow hat....

And even sported her Minnie ears.

So I guess it goes to show that sometimes you just need to get a bit creative when it comes to taking pictures of your kidos. If nothing else you can have a great time taking pictures of your kidos "friends" or going out to lunch afterwards with your own friends! And even thought your photo shoots may not go according to plan you can still get some fun pictures if you just keep at it!
